What is Webcam?
A video capturing tool, which uses USB port to get connected with a laptop or personal computer and Wi-Fi or Ethernet to get connected over computer network, is called a “webcam”. Most commonly this tool is being used to do video telephony between users and to do this it actually converts a laptop or personal computer into a channel of video conferencing or into a video phone.
The beauty of this video capturing tool which is named as “webcam” is that it is supported by all the big names in messenger services like Yahoo! Messenger service, Windows Live messenger service, Gtalk and very famous video chatting service i.e. Skype. This usage is considered as the most popular and prominent usage of this technology in these day. But still there are some other useful usages of this tool like making still images, video files and even it can be accessed through several applications online.
This tool is widely known as low manufacturing flexibility and costs and it is the best solution to have video telephony at the cheapest overall cost. As it is clear with its name “webcam”, the original sense of the tool is actually a video camera which can be connected to the Web through any program or software for a particular desired session. Main purpose of this tool is to give a view of computer user to the user or viewer that is sitting at the other end of that application by using same technology i.e. “webcam”.
Though most of the webcams are very low budgeted but still there are some that can not be bought with a low budget in which online traffic cameras and so are the professional cameras that are used to make videos in different functions and provide their live coverage.
